Boston (DbTechNo) – Internet search engine giant Google.com has just purchased a leading anti-fraud tool for an undisclosed dollar amount.
The tool is called ReCAPTCHA and is a security option used by many web sites requiring registration or selling merchandise.
ReCAPTCHA is simple to use, and works by administering a word puzzle that a person must correctly solve before they are allowed to proceed with their registration or purchase.
The anti-fraud tool was created to make it impossible for spammy activity on web sites, as it is not possible for a computer program to navigate the page because of the complex workings of each individual puzzle.
