Apple (AAPL) this morning said it has sued smart-phone maker HTC, alleging infringement of 20 patents related to the iPhone user interface, architecture and hardware. Apple filed concurrent actions in federal court in Delaware and with the U.S. International Trade Commission.
“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it,†CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement. “We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.â€Â
