Wales Pulls the Plug on Wikia Search

Jimmy Wales has pulled the plug on Wikia Search which he hoped would do for search what Wikipedia did for research.

The service — which allowed users to influence relevancy by voting URLS up and down and annotating their searches — simply did not sufficiently caught on to continue to develop it in a tight economy, Wales said in a blog post, though he believed the concept was sound and that its day would come.
